Become a Member of the Dance Coalition in Northern VA

Are you looking to join the Dance Coalition in Northern VA? Membership meetings are held quarterly and the dates are posted on the home page. Organizations can apply to perform at the annual gala concert in January, which has been expanded to include more schools and companies, and to offer masterclasses for their students. NEDA runs a 10-month program from September to June. The Dance Coalition is made up of a diverse group of professionals who are passionate about dance and social justice. Itzel, a program associate at the National Center for Juvenile Law (NCYL) and an operations associate at the Independent Sector, works with the CAIR Coalition.

She has a degree in Criminology, Law, and Society from George Mason University and is a member of the American Association of University Women, the National Organization for Victim Assistance, and the National Crime Prevention Association. Erin's work is driven by her interest in equity and social justice, communication models, and fundraising. Ana, Senior Attorney for the Detained Adult Program, graduated from the American University of Washington School of Law. She focused on public, international and human rights. Before joining the CAIR Coalition, Ana served as a senior research associate in the International Public Policy and Law Group, where she worked on human rights issues for international clients.

She also interned at the World Organization Against Torture in Geneva (Switzerland) and advocated for victims of torture before UN agencies. Additionally, Ana interned at the National Center for Victims of Crime. Katharine Gordon is an attorney with the Detained Adult Program, where she serves people with mental health disabilities. Prior to this, she worked at Al Otro Lado in Tijuana coordinating free response to previous administration's “Measurement” and “Migrant Protection Protocols” policies which prevented asylum seekers from meaningfully exercising their right to seek protection under international and federal laws. She also worked as an advocate for unaccompanied minors including children with developmental and mental health disabilities detained by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Edith is an attorney with CAIR Coalition who served as a student attorney at Georgetown Law Women and Immigration Practice.

She collaborated on the Jessup Prison Project. Edith earned her Master of Law with academic distinction from Georgetown Law with a specialization in criminal and immigration studies and a certificate in International Human Rights. Before joining CAIR Coalition, Edith interned at Charlotte North Carolina Public Defender's Office. Emma attended Colby College where she graduated with a degree in Global Studies. During her university career she spent several months volunteering at a community center for asylum seekers in Chios Greece.

In her spare time Emma does yoga thinks about having a dog and organizes events for the fun committee of CAIR Coalition. Sam was a staff attorney in U. S Court of Appeals for Fourth Circuit where she wrote memos and proposed opinions for federal appeals in a wide variety of areas including immigration law. Sam previously worked as an immigration attorney at a private firm in Washington DC with focus on asylum law. Lasater graduated from California State University in Fullerton with a degree in Business Administration and specialization in Human Resource Management. During his undergraduate years he led several national organizations including Alpha Delta Pi and Society for Excellence in Human Resources.

Since graduating he received credential from Society for Human Resource Management - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).Carlos graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with doctorate in law and 26% certificate in humanitarian emergencies for refugees. He represented clients at Georgetown Law Asylum Clinic. Nick graduated from Georgetown University Law Center during law school he interned with CAIR Coalition Kids in Need of Defense and Superior Court for District of Columbia. Laura is a graduate of College of William and Mary and law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Taylor completed 2 years of long-term service at Habitat for Humanity after graduating from Catholic University of America with degree in Psychological and Brain Sciences. The Dance Coalition is made up of talented individuals who are passionate about dance and social justice.
