The Dance Coalition in Northern VA: A Historical Journey

The Dance Coalition in Northern VA (VADC) is a professional jazz dance company that produces vibrant and captivating performances with a focus on artistic excellence and a wide range of modern styles. Founded by Catherine Bacha, a Fairfax native, the VADC has been a major player in the local dance scene for many years. Catherine has been dancing since she was four and teaching since she was sixteen. She was accepted to the Shenandoah University Conservatory and earned her Fine Arts degree in Dance, as well as the Terpsichore Award upon graduation.

Her success increased the visibility and prestige of the dance division through her efforts as an active artist. Catherine was also a featured dancer at the Russian Dance Trepak with the Fairfax Ballet Company's Nutcracker. In addition to acting, Colleen judges and teaches at dance conventions and is a member of the adjunct faculty at George Mason University, where she instructs intermediate Broadway jazz. After graduating from high school, she dedicated herself to intensively training in hip-hop and continued to compete with Adrenaline's Open All Male team, and was once again in the top five in the Dance World Cup. Elizabeth taught creative dance, jazz, and ballet at the Dance Expressions Dance Studio. She founded the South Jersey Storm All Star Dance Teams program, which went from having one team to ten in seven years.

After returning to Virginia, Sam began training dance teams and teaching with Adrenaline Dance Studio. Colleen has a degree in Theater and Dance with a specialization in Musical Theater from James Madison University and is represented by the CESD Talent Agency. She continued to dance competitively at the University of West Chester and was the captain in her final year, leading her team to third place in the UDA National Cup. After graduating from college, Elizabeth was a founding member of the Old Dominion University dance team. Jennifer has choreographed for many organizations, including the Washington Chiefs semi-professional league, the George Mason Dance Team, the Capitol Movement Project, the Mystics Mayhem dancers, the Washington Wizards Dance Team, the North Carolina State Dance Team, and numerous high schools and exclusive programs. Victoria began her career as a dancer at age five in a studio in Burke, Virginia, where she trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary music and hip hop. Originally from Ohio, Elizabeth graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Dance Education and a specialization in Psychology.

He enjoys teaching and performing all styles but most of all he loves to see dancers grow in technique and art.
