Congratulations to our 2011 scholarship winner - Michael Hibbs.
This $500 scholarship
will be
available in the fall of 2012 to any 2013 graduating high school senior in any of the
Fairfax County Dance Coalition member dance companies who plans to pursue
studies in dance. Scholarship money must be used for tuition at a
college, university, conservatory or summer intensive program for
the 2013/2014 school year.
Requirements for
consideration for the scholarship are:

DVD of solo or
group performance in which the individual is identified and
featured.

Recommendation
from two (2) dance teachers with an emphasis on technical
abilities.

Recommendation
from one (1) teacher, counselor, or pastor on applicant’s
character.

Short (200-500
word) essay from the applicant stating why they are pursuing a
career in dance and why they are applying for the scholarship.
Scholarship money will
be paid directly to the college, university, conservatory or summer
intensive upon acceptance of the student to the program of study.
Applicant materials will
be reviewed by a panel of 4 dancers and dance educators not
affiliated with the member Companies. The areas of expertise of the
judges will be in the disciplines of ballet, jazz, musical theatre
dance, and tap.
Applicant must provide
an original and three (3) copies of all scholarship application
materials (DVD, recommendations, and essay).
Application must be submitted and
postmarked by Friday, September 12, 2012.
